We received a number of great submissions for ENGIE's 2023 Community Sponsorship Program for The Plains Renewable Energy Park.
The Community Sponsorship Program is part of ENGIE’s commitment to supporting the local community and sharing the benefits of the project. In addition, Paraway Pastoral Company has committed to contributing funding towards the Program. Congratulations to all the successful applicants from the 2023 Community Sponsorship Program.
Hay Plains Landcare

ENGIE funded a Native Garden and Bush Tucker demonstration site with native species suitable for community gardens and the local climate, and a seed source for propagating plants in the nursery.
Hay Local Aboriginal Lands Council (LALC)

ENGIE provided sponsorship of the Hay NAIDOC event for 2023 hosted by Hay LALC and the Nari Nari Tribal Council. The free community event opened with a smoking ceremony followed by music and entertainment, food, market stalls, traditional weaving and art workshops, bike helmet exchange, LEGO giveaway, facepainting and more. Guest speakers told of the importance of NAIDOC and First Nations culture. The world’s most tattooed man was also a highlight of the event and fireworks display to cap off the celebrations.
Hay Junior Rugby League

The funding will go towards costs associated with the ongoing training and education of CASE members, mental health workshops and hosting of community information days.

Hay Inc Rural Education Program (HIREP) is designed for people aged 18 to 25 years, with a focus on mentoring, networking, and training opportunities for young people. The education program helps to address the need for skilled labour to service the agricultural and primary production industries located across the Hay region.
HIREP students will gain practical skills and accredited training for farm Workplace Health and Safety, first aid, quadbike and motorbike riding, and livestock handling. Other hands-on training includes sheep classing, working dog training, shearing and wool handling, small engine and motorbike maintenance, livestock water maintenance, and fence construction and maintenance.
Hay Tennis Club

The Country Education Foundation Edward River Region (CEFERR) aims to provide financial assistance and support to help local young people achieve their post high school education, training and vocation aspirations.

Hay Aboriginal Community Corporation Working Party

The Empowering Futures: Expanding Aboriginal Services project aims to enhance the range of services offered in partnership with local AMS. The project will include the expansion of a dedicated multi-functional hub for various educational and cultural activities. This space will be designed to host activities such as homework club and cultural educations sessions and include resources like cultural artefacts and educational games.

The first Hay Show was held in 1868 has been an important event on the annual calendar since. The Show brings together families, community members, local business owners and visitors. ENGIE is very pleased to be a part of the Show for 2023 and help showcase the many things that make Hay a great place to live and visit.
Hay Amateur Swimming Club

ENGIE’s sponsorship will help enhance safety measures at the Hay Amateur Swimming Club with a the ‘Ultimate First Aid Kit.’ The Kit will contain a wide range of medical supplies and equipment including bandages, disinfectants, CPR masks, splints, and other essential items necessary for prompt and effective first aid response.
Hay Lions Football Netball Club

The Hay Lions Football Netball Club teams will don specially designed football jumpers and netball dresses for an Indigenous round, to coincide with NAIDOC celebrations. This initiative aims to celebrate and honour the rich Aboriginal culture within the local community, raise awareness and promote reconciliation through sport.

A Wellness Day hosted by Women About Hay was held at Booroorban Hall to encourage women to get together, interact and learn from guest speakers in a safe and friendly environment. From pop-up stalls, a Bonsai wiring demonstration, native flower, yoga and sip and paint workshops, art and craft and a delicious lunch – the day was a great success.
Nari Nari Tribal Council

Nari Nari Tribal Council aims to become an example of culture and heritage protection and enhancement, environmental awareness and reconciliation, and sets itself to be a respected and revered organisation within both the Aboriginal and wider community.
The on-country Men's Mental Health weekend is to be held on International Men’s Day, 19 November. Organisers are aiming to attract up to 60 men to attend the event, with plans for Aboriginal guest speakers, yarning and cultural experiences including artifact making, traditional foods and other activities along the river.
